Hair analysis
Through hair analysis you will discover insights into your hair which you may not have known before. You will find out about the elasticity, strength and porosity of your hair and more. In addition, the hair analysis will help you understand your current hair condition and texture.
We offer two different hair analysis options. You can either perform the analysis at home or be assisted by a stylist at a participating Yours Truly ® salon.
The process of conducting the hair analysis at home is as follows:
1. Fill out our online questionnaire.
2. At the end, place the hair analysis (including any products you wish to add) in the shopping cart and go to check-out. The hair analysis is now ordered.
3. Next you will receive your hair analysis kit in the mail. You will need to prepare your hair sample and send it back to us free of charge. You can use the fragrance card to customize the scent you selected in the questionnaire.
4. As soon as we receive your hair sample, we will analyze it. We will send you a report on your hair health by mail. If you have chosen accompanying products, they will be included in the package.
If you perform the hair analysis at a Yours Truly® partner salon, your stylist will take the sample and send it in for you. The salon has everything that is needed on hand. The last step above (step 4) remains the same.
The questionnaire will provide us with important information about your styling and care routine as well as your hair goals. After we have conducted the analysis of your hair, we will adjust your formula and the questionnaire so that your hair care is tailored exactly to your hair's needs on a microscopic level.
We will subject your hair to various lab tests. Our focus is on the scientific nature of the analysis. Among other things, we work with a highly sensitive microscope and a tension device to study the health of your hair. We do not perform any DNA tests.

We need 15 - 20 individual hairs for the hair analysis in full length and at least 15 cm. NOTE: It is not possible to conduct a hair analysis if your hair is shorter than 15 cm.
It is possible to prepare your hair sample for the hair analysis at home. Here is an explanation video on how to collect the sample with your order. However, we recommend that you have the hair sample taken in the salon. This ensures that your hair sample reaches us right aways in perfect condition for the analysis. If you want to be on the safe side, we recommend that you have your sample taken at a Yours Truly® partner salon. You can find the nearest Yours Truly® partner salon here: Salon Finder. If your salon doesn't offer hair analysis, you can simply have your sample cut at your next salon visit.
Please follow the instructions below on how to take a hair sample at home. Here is a detailed explanatory video for taking your hair sample at home.
First, part your hair on the back of your head. As an approximate guide, you can measure 5 - 10 cm from your ear to the top of your head and separate a straight line from there to the side of your head. Then take a single strand and cut it as close as possible to the scalp. If necessary, you can also collect hair from your brush. NOTE: We need at least 15 - 20 hairs in a length of at least 15 cm for the hair analysis. It is not possible to conduct a hair analysis if your hair is shorter than 15 cm.
No. The cleanliness of your hair does not affect the test results. Before we analyze your hair, it is rinsed in our laboratory.
When testing the thickness of the hair, it is pulled until it breaks. This makes the hair unusable for analysis afterwards. Once we have completed the analysis of your hair and created your personal hair profile, we will dispose your hair sample properly.
If we received too few or not long enough hairs, we will contact you. We will send you a new sampling kit and ask you for a new hair sample. The shipment will include a prepaid envelope for the return. There will be no additional costs for you. NOTE: It is not possible to conduct a hair analysis if your hair is shorter than 15cm.
During the hair analysis, your hair passes a range of tests and measurements. We want to make sure that every single test meets our high standards. After the hair sample is sent to us, it takes approximately 7-10 days until you receive your hair health report by mail to your home.
If you have ordered your hair analysis including matching products, you will receive both, the hair health report and your products, within 10 to 14 days.
That depends on what goal you are pursuing with the hair analysis. If you want to understand your overall hair health in its natural state without treatments, you should perform the hair analysis before chemical services. If you want to find the right care for your treated hair, you should do the hair analysis after the treatment.
Yes. Please be mindful when taking the sample, for which part of your hair you want tailor made hair care. If you want the right hair care for your natural hair, send us a sample of your own hair. However, if you wish your products tailored to your extensions, we will need a sample of your hair extensions. We need at least 15 - 20 individual hairs in a length of at least 15 cm.
Self-guided hair consultation
In the self-guided consultation, you will answer a set of simple questions about your hair condition, hair goals and styling routine. This will allow us to create your own individual hair care formula. Each question you answer will have direct effect on your formula’s final ingredients recipe.
The average time to complete the questionnaire and place your order is around 7 minutes.

No, none of our products are animal tested! We are strictly against the testing of any products on animals!
Yes. Our individually created formulas and selected ingredients are always vegan, and most of our ingredients have been certified by the Vegan Society.
No, none of our products contain silicone, paraben, phthalate or mineral oil. We only use safe and harmless ingredients. When switching to products with silicone-free formulas, the hair can feel a bit dull after the first hair washes, which comes from washing out any product residues of silicone-containing products. A deep cleansing shampoo will help you get rid of the product residues faster.
No, none of our products contain microplastic.
We have 6 fragrances and you can make your choice: Luxury Care, Terracotta Stone, Black Light, Evening Sky, Minted Woods and Moringa Blossom. Since we consciously use ingredients of natural origin, our products smell of the ingredients used without adding any additional scents. If you don't like the neutral smell, we recommend adding a fragrance of your choice to the products. This is also a rather subtle, harmonious fragrance, but gives your product an individually fragrant note. Not to be compared with conventional perfume.
We abide by high standards of Clean Beauty cosmetics in all of our product formulations. As a result, our shampoos are cleaner and foam significantly less than conventional shampoos. In conventional shampoos, strong detergent like substances are used for cleaning purposes, which foam intensively. These substances also wash protective layers from the hair, can dry out and irritate the scalp. We deliberately avoid these additives and live by the motto: "less is more".Our shampoo pump is designed to dispense a calibrated small amount of product. A few pumps are sufficient to obtain a light, gentle foam that enables powerful cleaning. Even with additional pumps of product, you will still dispense less product than you would with a conventional shampoo, leaving you with a much longer lasting product. This is made on purpose and is what makes our shampoo so effective and economical.

If you have hair extension, please contact the manufacturer of your extensions and make sure which care products are suitable in order to retain your warranty claims.
Depending on how often you wash your hair, we recommend that you repeat the shampooing process rather than use too much product during the first wash. Especially with a hair washing routine of once a week or when you use a lot of styling product, the first wash is more of a "pre-wash" and cleans the coarse residues. You then reach the full cleaning power with the second wash. So you can does the product better and consume significantly less. PRO TIP: Leave the shampoo on your hair for a little while during the first shampooing to better remove strong styling residues.
We recommend to leave it on for 1-2 minutes. However, if you wish an intensive care you can extend up to 5 minutes.
Your hair may feel coated after washing with a silicone-free shampoo for the first few washes. This is due to the product residues that are still in the hair. We recommend using a deep cleansing shampoo once before using silicone-free products. This deep cleansing hair wash can also be done in a hair salon.
Depending on whether the wig/toupee is made of real human hair or artificial hair, this hair requires special care, which is commonly formulated with silicones. The use of our clean Yours Truly products is therefore not the right treatment for such hair.
Packaging and sustainability
Yes, we only use FSC-certified packaging materials.
The product packaging for our shampoo, conditioner and body wash milk is made of recycled plastic (PCR), which is 95% recyclable. The product bottle consists of 96 % PE Regranulate (PCR), 4% are color additive. The PE Regranulates are mainly obtained from used packaging foils, plastic bags and bottles. Our product packaging has a great recyclability of 95 % and has been certified with category A +++ for recyclability. In addition, we have had an external institute ensure that the use of the regranulate in our product packaging is safe for the consumer. Our Hair & Body Oils and Hair Perfumes are filled in recyclable glass bottles.
